Career Highlights

As a Poet

  • Represented Tampines Junior College in Pesta Pantun 2006, an annual pantun (Malay quatrain) battle organised by the Persatuan Bahasa Melayu Universiti Kebangsaan Singapura (National University of Singapore Malay Language Society), targeting students at the Junior College level.
  • Organised Pesta Pantun when I was an undergraduate in National University of Singapore.
  • Appointed as Juror in SPantun (organised by Singapore Polytechnic Malay Language Society).
  • Appointed as Judge in Temasya Pantun Piala Seri Melaka (originally organised by UiTM Melaka)
  • Published several poems in Malay appearing in Berita Harian, Singapore’s National Malay broadsheet.
  • Published several poems in English and Malay in an anthology titled “Contour: A Lyric Cartography of Singapore”, published by the Singapore Poetry Festival.
  • Nominated for Anugerah Persuratan (National Literary Award) in 2012.

As an Author

  • Co-Designed and Published 14 story books used as textbooks in MOE Kindergartens as part of the MOE Curriculum team. All books are available from the Singapore National Library.

As a Leader

As an Educator

  • Graduated from the National University of Singapore with a BA (Hons) majoring in Malay Studies and a minor in Social Work in 2011.
  • Graduated from the National Institute of Education with a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) in 2012.
  • Graduated from University of Cambridge with a Certificate of Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (CELTA) with a Pass A in 2023.
  • Worked as an MOE Education Officer between 2012 to 2022.
  • Worked in Singapore’s top ranked girls high school, Raffles Girls Schoolteaching Higher Malay to Malay speaking students and conversational Malay to non-Malay students in 2022.
  • Nominated for Anugerah Guru Arif Budiman (National Exemplary Malay Language Teacher Award) in 2013 & 2019.
